Band Members
One More Time is made up of a group of trained musicians that have many years of experience. If you are from the Dayton, Ohio area, you certainly will recognize some of the musicians playing or singing in this group, from having seen them in area concert bands, combos, other swing bands, quartets, polka bands, as soloists, or in their churches playing a multitude of different instruments. Every musician playing for One More Time enjoys music and performing which is evident when you hear them play.

Jean Ann Smith
Jean Ann plays trumpet, is the manager of the band, does the announcing for the band, and schedules the bookings for the band. She was a soloist in her high school band, went on to become a member of the UC Bearcat Marching and Pep Bands and never lost her love for playing the trumpet when she took a break from music to raise a family. A few years back, she and a few friends formed “One More Time” and now her days are occupied managing and booking the band. Besides “One More Time”, she currently plays in several other bands in the area and loves to do musicals. She says swing music is her favorite and if you can find a swing tune with a county flavor or a country song with a swing arrangement, she really loves it! (She is also blessed to have a son-in-law who designs great web pages! Check out his web site listed here.) back to top
Dr.
John Vosler
John plays trumpet and has many years of experience playing in many concert bands, as a soloist, in swing bands, and was a 27 yr member of a combo spanning 4 decades. As if this wasn’t enough, he still has managed to find time to volunteer countless hours playing Taps with the Color Guard for funerals in the Preble County and Dayton area. He loves to play his trumpet and says if he could play 6 out of 7 days a week, he would. In the summertime, he DOES play almost 6 out of 7 days a week! Music, he says, is what keeps him young. Besides his music, he has been Preble County Coroner for 37 years! back to top
Dan
Arrasmith
Dan plays every size sax that was ever made for man. From Soprano to Bass, he has them all and is well known throughout the area as a member of many groups ranging from quartets to swing bands, polka bands, and concert bands. Dan sets the tempo for the band by kicking off each song and then sets the table for the band after rehearsal. “One More Time” practices at Dan’s house where he always provides a delicious dessert for everyone after we have finished rehearsing. He is one of four Ohio State University grads in the band. back to top
Alan
Schmidlapp
What did you do to earn money to pay your way thru college? Alan had the perfect job! The Disneyland of Ohio, formerly known as Kings Island, was home for Alan during the summer as he and his Miami University buddies performed in a Dixieland group entertaining thousands of people at the amusement park. It is evident that Alan was a music major in college when you hear him play “Let’s Dance” or “Begin the Beguine” on his clarinet. Alan was a high school band director for a number of years and is proud to say that one of his top students is now the conductor of the New York Pops Orchestra! Not only does Alan shine on clarinet, but he is equally gifted on the Alto Sax and is a great addition to “One More Time”. back to top
Joyce
Hall
Joyce has spent most of her musical career on the clarinet, but after retiring from teaching, decided to branch out to the tenor sax. Maybe the “teacher” in her is what inspires her to constantly learn and take on new challenges. She has also become a “pro” at amateur photography since retirement. A hidden bit of info about Joyce - During her high school days, she and her sister toured the local fairs, singing duets and yodeling which presented her with the opportunity to perform on the Midwestern Hayride TV show. Because classes were to start for her at Wittenberg University, she had to decline the invitation. Maybe she will surprise us someday and show off this hidden talent. back to top
Cheryl
Wenner
Every band needs a perfectionist. Cheryl is just that. She insists that we practice a piece at least one more time until we have all mastered the rhythm and can play it together perfectly. She has a great ear for music and is a very talented musician not only as a sax, flute, and trumpet player, but has also learned the art of playing hand bells in her church choir. Now, when Cheryl gives up those OSU season football tickets, then we’ll be the winner with Wenner in the band rather than in the stands on Saturdays in the fall. back to top
Cliff
Miller
Talk about experience – Cliff has played trombone for approximately 80 years. No, that is NOT a misprint – 80 years! He will soon be 92 and plays a sweet, sweet, sweet, trombone. He mastered his t-bone while playing in the service and has continued to play, in the 60 some years following his discharge, in numerous swing bands, concert bands, and in the pit orchestra of high school musicals. He is an inspiration to everyone who hears him play. back to top
Audrey
Wright(also Vocalist)
If you have seen Audrey perform, you would guess that her 2 years at Bowling Green State University and her degree from Wright State University would have been in the study of music. However, her degree was not in music, but in Sociology. Performing all over the Dayton area, she is no stranger to the stage. This very busy multi-talented musician performs as a vocalist and a trombonist all around Dayton with various swing bands, jazz groups, polka bands, and as a pianist at the Rotary each week in Fairborn. She not only adds her experience as one of the area’s top vocalists, but adds her talent as a trombonist to our band called “One More Time”. She is proud that her two sons and grandchildren all playing trombone, trumpet, or baritone, are following in her footsteps as they carry on her passion for music. back to top
Andy
Hite
Although Andy says he never dotted the “i”, (he was never thrown in the river either), he had some great times as an outstanding bass player during the 70’s, in the “Best Damn Band in the Land” that you all know as The Ohio State Marching Band. Andy hasn’t limited himself to only playing for high profile football games. He has played in over 65 musicals since graduating from OSU and now plays in other concert bands and musicals and says he loves polkas - especially if there is a sufficient supply of beer on hand! back to top
Rick
Reiss
We were looking for a drummer and got lucky when we met Rick while playing in a pit orchestra for a musical. He keeps a steady beat for us and is the glue that holds the band together. Rick keeps busy playing with several concert bands, musicals, and other special groups in and around Shelby County. When he is not hitting a drum, you may see him hitting the pavement as a runner. He enjoys running and has also coached cross country for an area high school. Besides all of that, he is a great electrician and can make needed repairs on the spot for our band equipment. back to top
About Us
“One More Time” is a 10-piece swing band consisting of 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, a bass, a drummer, 4 saxes, and a vocalist. We want to play the music that inspires you to dance.
- We want to play the music that provides a beat that is easy to dance to and we want to bring back fond memories of the big band sound and swing dancing.
We simply want to have fun and entertain our audiences.
- We want you to have us back one more time – at least!
